The Panthers are yet to taste World Club Challenge success during their dynasty after the 2022 fixture was cancelled due to the pandemic.

Nathan Cleary and his side will aim for some unfinished business as they look to add the last piece to their bulging trophy cabinet.

Wigan present another tough challenge and will be buoyed by St Helens’ performance last year given they will be on home soil in the UK in 2024.

The Panthers have never won a World Club Challenge in their history with Wigan beating them in 1991 and Bradford in 2004.

The Panthers get one last chance to test themselves before their season opener against the Storm on March 8.

The visitors have lost the fixture all three times they have appeared in it to date, falling to Wigan back in 1991 along with Bradford and Saints.

The Warriors, on the other hand, have claimed the trophy on four occasions and will be attempting to win a record-equalling fifth WCC title against the side from Down Under.

Penrith team news:

Jarome Luai won't recover in time from a shoulder injury which caused him to come off in last year's grand final.

Despite not being fit enough to play, the playmaker will travel with the team to support them with Jack Cole tipped to start in his place at five-eighth.

Wigan Warriors preview

Wigan will host the first WCC clash on English soil in four years after the Covid pandemic brought the contest to a standstill.

The Warriors will do so after they claimed their first Super League title in five years last season when they recorded a 10-2 victory over Catalans Dragons.

Wigan will be looking to avenge their defeat to the Sydney Roosters at home in 2019, during their last appearance in the showpiece event.

Prior to that loss, they knocked off the Cronulla Sharks 22-6. If Wigan can win on Saturday, they will equal the Roosters’ record of five WCC victories.

Penrith Panthers preview

Penrith's loss against St Helens last year meant their wait for the club’s first WCC trophy goes on, although Ivan Cleary stated his intentions to finally bag the title in 2024 during last year's NRL grand final celebrations.

"It would be awesome to get another crack at it," the head coach told AAP following his side’s heart-stopping win over Brisbane.

"We were pretty bummed about that one. We absolutely gave it our best, it was the first game of the year and St Helens were too good for us that night."

Saints became the first English side in almost three decades to defeat the Aussie champions in their own backyard when they won in golden point at the foot of the mountains.

This has provided a burning motivation in the three-time premiership winning side, for when they touch down in England.

Which country has won the most World Club Challenges?

Entering into the 2024 clash between Wigan and Penrith, the ledger is all square at 14-all.
